If you’re anything like me, chances are good you’re a bit of a makeup junkie, and you know it takes a complete arsenal to create all of your Insta-worthy looks. While it seems nearly impossible to choose just one favorite product, anyone who’s ever beat their face for the gods knows no look is complete without killer lashes. Mascara goes a long way in lifting, lengthening, defining and thickening the look of our lashes, but sometimes mascara alone just won’t cut it. That’s where false lashes come in.
Long, voluminous eyelashes don’t just highlight your eye makeup, they complete the look! This week on QAE Beauty Blog, we’re talking all things false lashes. Whether you’re looking to give your lashes a little extra oomph before heading out of the door or are hoping to create some jaw-dropping length, volume and drama, false lashes have got you covered.
WHAT ARE FALSE LASHES
False lashes are thin synthetic or natural fibers made to mimic the look of real lashes. They are attached to a lash band that can be glued to your lash line.
HOW TO CHOOSE THE RIGHT FALSE LASH LENGTH
Just like your favorite eyeshadows and foundations, when it comes to false lashes—you’ve got options. Some false lashes, like QAE Beauty's Fashion, ‘Eyes Wide Shut’ and ‘Look At Me’ False Lashes, create a more natural, wispy look that is perfect for everyday wear. If you’re looking for something with a little more volume, consider QAE Beauty's ‘Barbie’ or ‘Flutter’ for fuller, longer-looking lashes. If it’s next-level dramatic lashes you’re after, look no further than QAE Beauty's ‘All Eyes on Me’ and ‘Silly Valentine’.
HOW TO TRIM FALSE LASHES
Once you’ve chosen the perfect set of false lashes for your night out on the town, you’re almost ready to apply them—almost. First, you have to make sure the false lashes are the right size for your lash line. To do that, simply hold the false lashes up to your lash line to see if they’re the perfect size or if they need to be trimmed. If the lashes are a bit too long, use beauty scissors to trim the outer corner of the lash band based on your assessment.
HOW TO APPLY FALSE LASHES
Now that you’ve trimmed your false lashes to the perfect length, it’s time to apply them. To begin, place a small amount of lash adhesive onto the lash band ONLY (to extend the life of your lashes DO NOT apply to lash fibers). Allow the glue to sit for about 30 seconds until it becomes slightly tacky. Holding the false lashes at the center, gently press the band of your false lashes onto the center of your upper lash line. Then, press down the outer edges of the lash band onto your lash line. Gently but firmly hold the false lashes in place while you allow the eyelash glue to dry completely.
PRO TIPS:
• For a more seamless lash look, secure your application by gently pinching the lash band and your lash line together. • Once your false lashes are in place, apply eyeliner to help the lash band more seamlessly blend in with your lash line. • Apply a coat of mascara to your natural lashes before your faux lash application to prevent too much product from getting on your false lashes. This will help extend the life of your false lashes!
HOW TO REMOVE FALSE LASHES
Think of false lashes as clip-in extensions for your eyelashes—they should be removed at the end of the night. To remove your false lashes, use your fingers to gently pull the band of the false lash starting at the outer corner and moving toward the center of your face. If you’d like to get more than one use out of your false lashes, don’t pull on the lash fibers themselves to avoid tearing. False lashes are great but they’re no replacement for your real lashes, so be sure to avoid pulling on your actual lashes. Use a clean cotton swab dipped in micellar water or makeup remover to gently remove any excess lash glue from your lash line.
HOW LONG DO FALSE LASHES LAST
The best part about quality false lashes like the ones you’ll find at qaebeauty.com is that if you care for them properly, you can wear them more than once! After removing your false lashes, gently remove the adhesive by lightly massaging the lash band with your fingertip. If you can’t remove all of the lash glue with your fingertips alone, lay the lashes on a flat surface and gently wipe a clean cotton swab dipped in micellar water along the lash band. Once your false lashes are clean, store them in their storage case to keep them protected and help them maintain their proper shape. This will also help ensure you get the most use out of your false lashes. With proper care, QAE Beauty's False Lashes provide up to 25 wears for mink and faux lash sets.
